Enjoy beautiful summer evenings and special extended hours with the return of Summer Nights! Every Thursday from July 11 – August 29, San Diego Botanic Garden will be open until 8 p.m. Explore our tropical Rainforest and waterfall view deck, wander along winding pathways in the peaceful Bamboo Garden, and catch an ocean sunset from our Overlook Tower. Bring the whole family and play in Hamilton Children’s Garden, where kids can climb Toni’s Treehouse in a jungle canopy, or splash in the Mountain Stream. Make it a date night or gather your friends to sip and stroll your way through the Garden with a selection of food and drinks available for pre-order. Start planning your summer lineup at the Garden!

Perfect for picnics on the Lawn, the Garden will offer a selection of charcuterie and cheese plates available for pre-order. A variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available for purchase day-of. Pre-ordered food will be available for pick up from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. either at the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory, or Lawn House depending on the performance location that evening.
Please note that any pre-ordered food is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged. SDBG is a cash free facility. Deadlines for food pre-orders are one week before the concert date. Outside food is not permitted for the Amphitheater Concerts or special presentations.
Charcuterie for Two ($30):
Includes extra sharp Australian grass fed cheddar, cranberry hazelnut raincoast crisps, triple creme brie, soppressata salami, fresh fruit, aged gouda, fig spread and a sour cherry spread.
Charcuterie for two available as gluten-free option.
Cold drinks will be available for purchase every Thursday. Selections include Bottled Water ($2), flavored Sparkling Water and Sodas ($3), and various Wines and Craft Beers ($9).
Valid ID required for alcohol. Toast to summer with a sundowner at the Garden!
Charcuterie for Four ($50):
Includes extra sharp Australian grass fed cheddar, cranberry hazelnut raincoast crisps, triple creme brie, soppressata salami, fresh and dried fruit, aged gouda, blueberry lemon thyme goat cheese, fig spread and a sour cherry spread.
We highly recommend that all guests make an advance reservation online for your visit (including Members and children attending concerts for free). Walk-up admissions are not guaranteed
For online purchases, select your preferred date and time for general admission tickets (last entry for Summer Nights is at 7 p.m.). You will be prompted to add special event tickets to your cart during the checkout process for general admission tickets. Additional add-ons, including pre-ordered food, will be available to select from.
Limited walk-up admissions will be available, but are not guaranteed on high-volume days.
SDBG Guest Tickets provide entry to the Garden. Special event pricing still applies to visitors who wish to add-on special events (concerts, performances, etc.).
Reciprocal admission provides entry to the Garden. Special event pricing still applies to visitors who wish to add-on special events (concerts, performances, etc.).
To allow as many as possible to enjoy these limited-capacity events, cancellations are accepted until one week prior to the scheduled event. Please note that canceled tickets cannot be transferred to other events
Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed for general visits in all areas except the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory and Conservatory Amphitheater. Outside food is not permitted for concerts and performances in the Conservatory Amphitheater space.
For online purchases, you will be prompted to add food to your cart during the checkout process for general admission tickets. Additional add-ons, including concerts and performances, will also be available to select from.
The deadline for pre-ordered food is the Thursday before (one week prior to the event date).
Food will be available for pickup from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. near the main entrance outside the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory.
For Gazebo Lawn Concerts on 7/11, 8/8 and Storytelling in the Bamboo Garden on 7/25, food will be available for pickup at the Lawn House near the Gazebo Lawn.
Seating capacity and availability depends on the type of event or performance. Some will have limited chair seating on a first-come-first-served basis, while others will offer seating along the tiered concrete steps of the Amphitheater. Full seating details are included in each event description.
Please carefully review details on each event listing to determine seating availability.
For safety reasons, folding chairs are not allowed during the Hullabaloo concert on July 11 due to high expected capacity, unless needed for ADA accommodation.
The Garden will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays during Summer Nights (July 11 - August 29). The last entry time is 7 p.m. to allow guests enough time to enjoy the Garden before close.
