Bird Walks

The first Monday of each month, SDBG hosts a bird walk led by our birding specialists Rita Campbell, Sue Smith, Gretchen Nell, and Jeff Clingan. SDBG is a birding hotspot providing a home to our native birds, migrants, and wintering guests. Starting at 8am to get the most out of our early morning birding hours, the group searches out the greatest number of bird species in our native and ornamental gardens.

Butterfly Walks

Join us for twice monthly Butterfly Walks to learn more about these beautiful insects and their close relationship with plants. Walks will be led by a garden volunteer and joined regularly by butterfly expert Dr. Michael Perry from UC San Diego and members of his lab. Walks will take place the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 10 am from June through October.
