Enjoy a fun-filled morning of exploration in nature at our quarterly Members-Only Morning! During this open-house style event, Members will get exclusive access to the Garden from 8 to 10 a.m. for free yoga classes, behind-the-scenes tours with staff, children’s activities, complimentary drip coffee from our Cork Oak coffee cart, and more! 

Registration is strongly encouraged for this event, please bring your Member Card(s) and Photo ID(s) for access. Sign-up sheets for tours and activities will be available day-of and on a first-come, first-served basis. We hope you can join us!

Birding in the Garden

8:30am – 9:15am | Walking Tour

Bring your own binoculars and come along with docent and Bird Walk leader Jeff Clingan as he guides you to all sorts of feathered friends that hang out in the Garden! Learn about local and migratory birds, meet fellow birders, and more during this wing-tacular tour!  It’s true what they say, the early bird gets the worm at Members-Only Morning.

Indigenous and Medicinal Uses for Native Plants

Join one of our lead Horticulturists Summer Haynes as she takes you through California Gardenscapes and teaches about different indigenous and medicinal uses for native plants! Be inspired to grow your own native plants and benefit from their medicinal properties. California native flora has a rich and wonderful history, and we cannot wait to share it with you!

Tropical Conservatory and Its Living Chandeliers

9:00am – 9:45am Walking Tour

Our 8,000 square foot glass conservatory is home to tons of unique tropical plants, and its Living Chandeliers are works of art bursting with awe-inspiring epiphytic species! Join docent Beverly Siow as she takes you through all the wonderful plants that make our conservatory and its chandeliers so iconic!

Open Air Yoga

Bring your mat and experience an invigorating outdoor session surrounded by nature’s beauty on our Gazebo Lawn. You’ll leave feeling recharged and ready to tackle the day—and you might just discover your new favorite weekly ritual!

  • 8:15 a.m. (extra class!) – Open-Air yoga. This class is walk-up only.  First come, first serve with limited availability. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. This is a special extra class just for Members.
  • 9:00 a.m. (Regular weekly yoga class offering) – Must pre-register by 5pm the day beforehand. No walk-ups. Save your spot with a $12 deposit on our website here. Full deposit returned to Members upon attendance. Please note: if you do not attend, the deposit will not be returned.

Children’s Activities in Hamilton Children’s Garden

Starting at 9:30 a.m.

Members of all ages are invited to swing into Toni’s treehouse and hang at Hamilton Children’s Garden for SAPLinGS (Science, Art and Play in Garden Spaces) activities! Celebrate the Earth with us as we learn how to protect our planet in ways big and small, and make eco-friendly crafts with natural materials foraged from around SDBG.

Stop by the Cork Oak Coffee cart for complimentary drip coffee and 50% off the full selection of craft coffee items; meet members of the Science & Conservation team to learn about current conservation efforts; get the perfect shot with photo stops at some of the most Instagrammable places throughout the Garden; and stop by our Membership station on your way out to pick up a small thank you gift!
