Wine Tasting and the History of Wine by Sommelier Dane Kuta (ages 21+)  | 6 p.m. start

Discover the history of wine and learn how the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans made and enjoyed their wine. Fascinating stories will reveal how and why wine changed from the Middle Ages to the modern era. The evening explores the emergence of different appellation systems of major wine-producing countries and highlights major worldwide events that impacted wine production. Enjoy the rich history while you taste three different grape varietals that have been grown since the Roman era. 

This presentation is led by Dane Kuta, Level 2 Certified Sommelier, Champagne Master, Bordeaux Master, Champagne MOOC, Italian Wine Professional, Napa Valley Wine Expert, Certified Level 2 Member of the Academy of Cheese, and official sommelier of San Diego Botanic Garden. Dane teaches wine appreciation to sold-out classes at different San Diego schools including MiraCosta College. 

This event takes place in the Conservatory Amphitheater and includes seating for all ticket purchasers. Outside food and drink are not allowed at this event.
